How to avoid the lag of the jet

Jet lag sucks.

We all know it. It can ruin your arrival day, but as a mom on the go, I personally don't really have that kind of time to waste. I actually do quite a few things to alleviate some of the unpleasantness of the dreaded jet lag, and my planning begins before the airport:

  • I make sure when booking my tickets that if I have an overnight flight, it is the latest departure in the evening. This way, it is easier to fall asleep on the plane because it is your actual bedtime.

  • I also pack pajamas in my carry on bag. Just prior to take off I change into my sweat pants and loose shirt and get comfy. I brush my teeth after dinner and then face mask on and lights out.

  • Upon arrival, STAY AWAKE! Most of the time this is not a problem because hotels don't always have early check in available. My only issue with this is that I feel disgusting after traveling! So here's what I do to get around it...

  • If your hotel doesn't have a spa, find a day spa near by. Book a 60 min massage! They always have showers so you can go take a shower and relax a bit. After your massage, you will feel refreshed and ready to take on the day.

  • Try not to turn in until 9pm at the earliest to get your time clock back in sync as soon as possible.

What about you guys?? What travel tricks do you use to kick the jet lag?
